My aim is to provide a friendly, approachable service to those who are need of rehabilitation from various injuries and ailments and also to those who are training towards goals or who need some maintenance. I established Emily Catford Therapies in 2008 and I am constantly continuing and refining my development.
My client base is vast and every day is a bit different. I have been pitch side first aider and therapist for the Minehead Barbarians RFC since 2017. I have also been a guest ‘Ask the Experts’ writer for Your Horse magazine on a few occasions talking about rider mindset and overcoming confidence issues.
At home, I have an ex-race horse called Trevor and an Irish Sport horse called Alfie. I have worked in, and trained horses in racing, dressage, polo, tetrathlon, eventing and those with behavioural issues. My own tuition has been in classical dressage and I have competed at advanced Level on my own ex-racer Trevor (even with his meniscal tear, kissing spines and SI disease)!
I also had plenty of experience with lameness issues with my own horses and dogs (especially stifles & kissing spines!) and I use physiotherapy, groundwork and ridden work to keep them going.
I also have a lovely border collie called Winnie and like her, I am slightly obsessed with Shetland sheep.
